Federal election may decide future of industry Growth Centres

Labor senator Kim Carr has claimed that Australia’s industry-led Growth Centres programme, a $160-million federal research initiative, is not providing value for money and could be dumped by a Labor government.

Carr’s comments coincide with an event hosted by the Morrison government on 4 December at Parliament House in Canberra to highlight the role of the centres in getting industry and researchers to work together.

The event was launched by Karen Andrews, the federal minister for industry, science and technology, who announced an additional $60m for the programme.
