Queensland social services academic, Ian O’Connor, has been appointed to lead a federal advisory body that reviews the quality and standards of Australia’s higher education system.
The Griffith University vice-chancellor will chair the Higher Education Standards Panel, which advises the government on issues such as tertiary dropout rates and the need to improve university admission processes.
O’Connor (above, left) joined Griffith University in 2002 as deputy vice-chancellor of learning and teaching and was appointed vice-chancellor and president in 2005.
