ARC laureates call for Morrison to step up action on climate change

Government must take stronger action or face environmental degradation and social disruption, top researchers say

More than eighty of Australia’s top academics have signed an open letter to prime minister Scott Morrison calling for urgent changes to federal climate policies, including deeper cuts to carbon emissions.

“The tragedy of this summer’s bushfires commands our attention,” the letter says. “Climate change has arrived, and without significant action greater impacts on Australia are inevitable.”
