Sharing survival stories ‘critical to bushfire recovery efforts’

Personal approach can inspire and connect people, aiding the recovery and rebuilding process, says lecturer

Government agencies should encourage people affected by Australia’s continuing bushfire crisis to share their experiences as part of a community recovery process, a Queensland academic has said.

Jenny Hou, a communications lecturer at Queensland University of Technology, suggests that agencies need to “seek views and survival stories” to help build resilience in areas where homes and lives have been lost.
