Australian Senate inquiry to take submissions on removing ministerial right to block research grants

A Senate committee is to inquire into whether ministerial vetoes of Australian Research Council grants should be banned.

The inquiry will examine a bill from the Australian Greens, first introduced to parliament in 2018, that would remove the education minister’s right to veto grant decisions made by the ARC.
