Ministerial veto powers over Australian Research Council funding decisions are creating a “chilling effect” in Australian research, a Senate inquiry has heard.

At a hearing on 9 March, the Senate education and employment committees heard broad, but not universal, support for removing ministerial veto powers over ARC grants
