Performance benchmarks due soon as Australian Research Council’s assessment changes continue

Changes to Australia’s research assessment system are at an advanced stage, with benchmarks for performance levels due to be released soon.

The Australian Research Council’s Excellence in Research for Australia framework assesses how well universities are using the ARC’s funds. The rankings created by the Era process are considered by the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency when it assesses universities’ performance, and the information returned by the process is the most comprehensive available on the quality of the research carried out with the ARC’s roughly A$800 million a year in funding.
