CSIRO chief executive tells Senate hearing of “priority changes” following budget reduction

The chief executive of the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation has told a parliamentary hearing that a reduction in research capacity is expected following cuts in the federal budget on 14 May.

At a Senate economics hearing on 5 June, Doug Hilton confirmed that up to 35 CSIRO research jobs in the areas of food, agriculture and manufacturing could be cut.
