Five-year research project to track agricultural pests will start in Barossa wine region
Mobile surveillance technology that can conduct tests for airborne fungal spores and insect pests is being tested at vineyards in the Barossa wine region of South Australia.
The equipment will be used to test for light brown apple moths, which are a significant pest for Australia’s wine producers. The moth’s caterpillars damage foliage and grapes, making grapevines more susceptible to fungal infections and bunch rot.
