Australia needs its own satellite network, 10-year plan says

Australia’s reliance on other nations’ satellites poses a “significant sovereign risk”, the country’s top science body has said.

In a 10-year space science plan published on 20 January, the Australian Academy of Science calls for an immediate investment in space science to address the issue. A “homegrown” Earth observation satellite network tops its wish list.
