Report warns that lack of computing strategy puts science, prosperity and national security at risk

Australia should aim to become a supercomputing hub for the Asia-Pacific region, a report has said, but keeping up with the most advanced computers may cost more than the entire national research infrastructure budget.

The report, from the Australian Academy of Science, warns that “the escalating needs” of local research are at risk of not being met.
