Patent applications rise in Australia

Government agency praises businesses’ continued investment in intellectual property

Australian researchers and inventors filed more patents, trademarks and designs in 2023 than in the previous year, a report from IP Australia has said.

The government agency released its 2024 Australian intellectual property report on 21 May, saying that patent applications rose by 2.4 per cent, trademark applications by 9.8 per cent and design applications by 24.2 per cent.
