Ocean research ‘needs cultural licence to operate’

Australian research centre urges scientists and industry to work collaboratively and fairly with Indigenous people

Researchers and businesses seeking to work in the “blue economy” must take Indigenous viewpoints into account, a report has said.

The publication from the Blue Economy Cooperative Research Centre, which brings together industry and academia, says that having a cultural licence to operate is essential for both research design and work in the sector.
