Education to be a top priority for Greens leader

The Victorian first-term senator Richard Di Natale has been elected unopposed as leader of the Australian Greens following the sudden resignation of Christine Milne.

Di Natale, a former GP who worked with remote Indigenous communities and medical aid programmes in India, told a press conference in Canberra that health, education and the environment will be his policy priorities as party leader.

He was elected to federal parliament in 2010, becoming the first Greens senator from Victoria, and has been the party’s health spokesperson.
