Federal grants worth $20m for Indigenous arts

A project to develop an Indigenous arts hub and travelling workshop programmes in remote central west Queensland has received a $1.4 million grant from the federal government.

The Central West Aboriginal Corporation wants to create an arts, culture and language revival centre at Barcaldine, a small town more than 500 kilometres from Rockhampton.

The CWAC is one of 35 organisations to receive funding for up to five years through the federal government’s Indigenous Languages and Arts programme.
