One of Australia’s most respected education ministers, Adrian Piccoli, will resign from state politics to head a new policy think tank at the University of New South Wales.
Announcing the move, Piccoli said his new role was “a fantastic opportunity” to be involved in education policy and outreach work with rural communities.
Piccoli said he had planned to stay in the NSW parliament until the 2019 state election, but “to be given the chance to continue to have a deep involvement in education is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and one I couldn’t say no to”.
