Government and opposition both under fire for scrapping Education Investment Fund

The Morrison government’s decision to redirect a $3.9-billion tertiary education fund to drought relief is short-sighted and will disadvantage rural students “for decades to come”, the Australian Education Union has said.

Maurie Mulheron, deputy federal president of the union, said repurposing the funding was a “short-term solution to a long-term problem”.
