Delay to R&D tax changes announced in mid-term budget

Deferral may provide time for reassessment after planned changes were criticised

Australia’s federal government is to delay the introduction of changes to its R&D tax incentive scheme by 12 months, following concerns raised by small businesses and startups earlier in December.

The measure was announced by treasurer Josh Frydenberg on 16 December as part of the government’s mid-year economic and fiscal outlook statement.
