Morrison and Andrews criticised for prioritising inquiry and roundtable meetings on bushfire response

The Morrison government is facing widespread criticism over its plans to hold a federal inquiry into Australia’s bushfire crisis, with a leading scientist claiming it is unnecessary.

Kevin Tolhurst, a fire behaviour scientist at the University of Melbourne, says that since 1930 there have been 57 formal public inquiries, reviews and royal commissions related to bushfires and fire management in Australia.
