Minister resigns after government accused of ignoring funding recommendations from Sport Australia

The federal government’s mismanagement of a $100-million community sports funding programme is likely to have a “very real impact” on child health in disadvantaged communities, a University of South Australia academic has said.

Ian O’Boyle, a sports management lecturer with the university’s business school, says many small clubs are already struggling to meet the costs involved in competitive sports participation for children.
