Australia to extend post-study work rights

      

International students in areas of “verified skill shortages” will be able to stay for longer

Some international research students are to get up to six years of post-study work rights in Australia—an increase of two years—thanks to a shake-up of student visa arrangements. 

The change, announced by education minister Jason Clare and home affairs minister Clare O’Neil on 2 September, is an attempt to “strengthen the pipeline of skilled labour” in areas of “verified skill shortages”, a joint statement said.
