
Science academy takes aim at ‘sloppy thinking’ in terms of reference for upcoming universities accord
The Australian Academy of Science has slammed the government’s approach to running a review of the country’s higher education system, decrying the inclusion of commercialisation as a focus area.
In November, education minister Jason Clare kicked off development of a ‘universities accord’ to build a long-term plan for Australia’s higher education system—the first broad review of the sector in 15 years. The first step was a consultation on the terms of reference for the review, comprised of seven priorities areas on which the accord would deliver recommendations and targets.
