Scientists and research ‘need more proactive protection’

International Science Council releases paper on protecting science in times of crisis

War, geopolitical forces and other crises are increasingly threatening the integrity and preservation of research and scientific knowledge, a report has said, and a “reactive” response to problems is no longer sufficient.

The report from the International Science Council on 20 February says that “as the range of crises facing the world proliferates, so do the numbers of people at risk, among them scientists and academics”.
