Government hails A$107m spend on endometriosis

Announcement of care rebates by Albanese government highlights research investment—but does not increase it

The Albanese government has announced that its total investment in endometriosis—a disease of the female reproductive system that can cause severe pain—has reached a total of A$107 million including for research.

Endometriosis is when tissue similar to that of the lining of the uterus grows in places outside the uterus, such as the ovaries. On 10 May, the government announced that it was investing A$49.1m to cover the costs of specialist consultations for the disease.
