Deputy VCs among latest academy fellows

David Day, pro vice-chancellor for research at Flinders University, and Max Lu, deputy vice-chancellor for research at the University of Queensland, are among 20 new fellows announced by the Australian Academy of Sciences.

The two are joined by others including Michael Sandiford, a geologist at the University of Melbourne, and Brian Walker, an ecologist at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation. There were no women among this year’s fellows.

Chunli Bai, president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Birger Møller, a plant biologist at the University of Copenhagen, were made corresponding members.
