Climate change is increasing the risk of flash flooding for many Australian cities, according to research by the University of New South Wales.
Civil engineers at the UNSW Water Research Centre in Sydney analysed 30 years of storm data from the Bureau of Meteorology, looking at the rainfall patterns of almost 40,000 storms.
The study looked at the impact of storms on 79 locations across the country and found peak downpours during storms are intensifying because of rising temperatures.
