A cultural history project that will make hundreds of rare theatre manuscripts available online has received a $35,000 grant from the Australian National Data Service.
The University of New England, in northern New South Wales, will use the funds to digitise a collection of around 300 manuscripts donated to its library by Sydney theatre historian Campbell Howard.
It covers Australian theatre from 1920 to 1955, and contains published plays, unpublished theatre manuscripts, programmes, photographs, production notes and letters.
