One in five students sexually harassed on campus

The Australian Human Rights Commission has found that sexual assault and harassment of students is “occurring at an unacceptable rate” at universities across the country.

A survey of more than 30,000 students revealed that 21 per cent had been sexually harassed at social events held on university campuses.

The survey is the largest of its kind ever conducted in Australia. The findings were published on 1 August in a report that has been endorsed by all Australian universities
