ANU institute to set national space industry research agenda

The Australian National University in Canberra has launched a national space institute at its historic Mount Stromlo Observatory site.

The institute will bring together the university’s spaceflight testing facilities, advanced instrumentation research, astronomy and laser system technologies to expand Australia’s commercial and scientific role in the global space industry.

Announcing the initiative on 23 October, ANU vice-chancellor Brian Schmidt said the university was “already home to key national space resources which have a vast capacity and capability to support Australia’s space industry”.
