US foundation to bring First Nations art researchers to Sydney

A private charity that was set up 40 years ago in Chicago to support and promote American art is to fund three visiting professorships in First Nations art at the University of Sydney.

The Terra Foundation for American Art, founded by philanthropist and chemical engineer Daniel Terra, will support a three-year programme of 10-month teaching positions as well as an associated research programme at the university.

The partnership with the Terra foundation was announced by Annamarie Jagose, dean of Sydney’s faculty of arts and social sciences, and Amy Zinck, the foundation’s executive vice-president.
