ANU professor warns that more frequent fires will increase exposure to particulate matter

 Bushfire smoke and extremely dry spring weather across eastern Australia have created a public health emergency for adults and children affected by respiratory conditions such as asthma, a leading health researcher has said.

Sotiris Vardoulakis, professor of global environmental health at the Australian National University in Canberra, has warned that climate change will increase the risks of air pollution from more frequent bushfires.
