Universities spend more on marketing, but donations in decline

    

Marketing staff numbers up 11 per cent, but 16 per cent drop in major donations

 Australia’s universities increased their spending on fundraising and marketing in 2018, but the number of new donations fell by 6 per cent, an annual survey has found.

Data provided by 24 universities in Australia revealed they spent a total of $97 million on fundraising campaigns in 2018, with an average cost of around $1,600 for each donor. The survey also included two universities in New Zealand.
