Medical student wins scholarship for asbestos cancer research

University of Western Australia researcher aims to improve treatments for mesothelioma

Synat Keam, a medical researcher at the University of Western Australia, has received a $25,000 scholarship to further his research on treatments for the asbestos-related cancer mesothelioma.

Keam, a PhD student with the university’s national centre for asbestos-related diseases, has been awarded a Douglas Peter Swift scholarship. The philanthropic award is offered by the Swift family trust to support UWA research into mesothelioma.
