Government aims to cap enrolment on certain courses

Australian universities alarmed at threat to international student income posed by planned new government powers

Caps on international student numbers and different rules for different courses seem set to affect Australian universities following the release of a new international education framework by the Australian government.

The draft framework, issued on 11 May, would give the government the right to “consider the optimal makeup of the onshore international education sector” in conjunction with the sector.
