Sydney records surplus but rest of New South Wales struggles

Annual university reports from Australia’s most populous state show continued financial pain

The University of Sydney returned a surplus in 2023, but other universities in the state of New South Wales recorded deficits.

Annual reports released on 20 May show that NSW’s higher education sector is still struggling, despite a bounceback in international student numbers.
