Speaker slaps down Chief Whip over tuition fees

An incredible scene on Monday night in the House of Commons as the government sought to impose a time limit on the tuition fees debate on Thursday.

The procedural move, orchestrated by the governments chief whip, Patrick McLoughlin, was blocked. McLoughlin seems to have been sore at the Speaker, John Bercow, because he then made a comment that we cant hear but Bercow, could. Bercow didnt like it. And as McLoughlin started to walk out of the chamber through the exit behind the Speakers chair, this is what happened…

Remember, McLoughlin is supposed to be the most feared person in Parliament. Thats his job.
