UK Centre for Medical Research and Innovation given final green light

The last substantial obstacle to the UK Centre for Medical Research and Innovation was removed tonight when the huge new facility was given planning permission by Camden Council.

The planning committee approved plans for construction on the site near Kings Cross in central London by 8 votes to 4 with 1 abstention.
UKCMRI was founded by four of the UK’s largest scientific and academic institutions – the Medical Research Council, Cancer Research UK, the Wellcome Trust and University College London. It is scheduled to open in 2015.
