Central group pledges facility-sharing

Countries in the Central European Initiative, a network of 18 governments including Italy and most eastern-European nations inside and outside the EU, have vowed to improve their access to research facilities. In a resolution adopted in Trieste on 19 October, the CEI countries say they want to improve their scientists’ access to the Italian-based synchrotron radiation facility Elettra and the free electron laser laboratory Fermi.
