Commission seeks €7bn to complete Galileo

The European Commission has proposed to spend €7 billion under the next EU multi-annual financial framework to complete the satellite navigation project Galileo.

Galileo costs around €3.4 billion in the EU’s 2007-2013 budget—the project’s original price tag for deployment. However, in March, the Commission admitted that Galileo needed an extra €1.4bn between 2014 and 2020, on top of the €5.6bn management costs originally envisaged for that time period, to be fully deployed.
