Consultation launched on planned review of research state aid

The European Commission is holding a review of its state aid rules for research, development and innovation to see whether their regulation needs to be improved.

State aid is defined as public money used by member states to support businesses to help them become more competitive. However, the rules have previously been criticised for being obscure and biased against smaller and poorer member states.
