Croatia confirms government in time for EU referendum

Croatia's new government was confirmed on 23 December, just in time for the country to hold its internal referendum on joining the EU in 2013.

Croatia is expected to confirm EU accession through the referendum on 22 January 2012, as part of the formal EU accession procedure. The incoming government, which is headed by prime minister Zoran Milanovic, was elected into power on 4 December, five days before the country signed a treaty with the EU to become its 28th member.
