Germany’s research gets 11% budget increase

Germany’s research and education ministry will get a budget increase of 11 per cent for 2012, bringing the total budget that year to €12.9 billion. The money will largely go towards initiatives that the government says have shown promise, including the Hochschulpakt 2020 (Higher education pact), the Excellence Initiative and the Pact for Research and Innovation.
