A network of regions has criticised the European Commission’s proposal to set up a separate funding pot for the Earth observation programme GMES.
The Commission said on 30 November that the Global Monitoring for Environment and Security programme GMES needs €5.8 billion for 2014-2020, and suggests collating financial contributions from EU member states into a dedicated fund outside the EU budget.
