Turkey joins European standards organisation

The Turkish Standards Institution will join the European Committee for Standardisation (Cen-Cenelec) on 1 January 2012.

Elena Santiago Cid, director general of the Cen-Cenelec management centre in Brussels, said: “It means that Turkey will be better placed to participate fully in the European Single Market, because there is a clear commitment to the acceptance of European standards and the elimination of any conflicting national standards.”
