EU launches marine casualty database

The EU has launched the European Marine Casualty Information Platform, a database that stores information about marine accidents involving ships from EU member states, or occurring in territorial waters of an EU country.

The system was developed by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre and the European Maritime Safety Agency based in Lisbon, Portugal.
