‘Smart specialisation’ scheme for regional innovation launched

The European Commission has launched a three-year scheme for ‘smart specialisation’ to help national and regional authorities develop original innovation policies and reduce inequalities in innovation performance throughout the EU. The initiative was launched at the Regions for Economic Change conference in Brussels on 23 June to help regions identify their strengths and use EU funds to encourage partnerships between regional governments, business and academia.
