EU must double research budget, says Bill Gates

Bill Gates has called on the EU to double its research budget in 2014-20, European Voice reports.

The philanthropist and chairman of US software firm Microsoft told the news website that a doubling of EU funding for research and innovation would have a “huge impact” on the lives of the world’s poor, in particular if funding is increased in the areas of health and agricultural development.
