Framework 7 project shares forest infrastructure

A €9-million project has been launched to share forest infrastructure and resources among European researchers.

The Trees4Future project aims to provide easy access to resources such as databases in forest genetics and ecology, predictive models, and analytical tools through a centralised online portal. The project also aims to develop common protocols and reference standards for traits and species.

The four-year project is funded by Framework 7. Its first meeting was held in Orléans, France on 17-19 January.

The project’s 28 partners include the French national institute for agricultural research (Inra), the Finland-based European Forest Institute, and the Bavarian State Ministry for food, agriculture and forests in Germany.
