Parliamentary parties assail Hungarian constitution

Three of the major groups in the European Parliament—the Greens, the liberal ALDE group and the Socialists—have each issued strong statements condemning the changes in the Hungarian constitution that were implemented on 1 January.

The changes have been criticised for limiting press freedom and for inhibiting the independence of Hungary’s central bank.
