Commission corrects shortfall on 2012 research budget

The European Commission has adopted a corrective budget to meet expenses on research and careers programmes for 2012.

The Commission said it needs an additional €423 million for payments to research programmes this year. This sum includes €102m for the Marie Curie Actions, a popular programme that provides prestigious fellowships to thousands of PhD students and later-stage researchers.
